​Sherman Tylawsky is the founder of The George Washington Institute (GWI), host of the Friends & Fellow Citizens podcast, and an instructor.

​

With an early love for American history, Sherman runs GWI to bring historical lessons of leadership back to contemporary life in America. By sharing riveting stories of American history to various audiences with guest lectures and talks, he aims to galvanize current and future generations of citizens. Sherman runs GWI’s signature podcast Friends & Fellow Citizens, where he has hosted nearly 200 episodes of civil discussions about current events and connections between American history and contemporary issues.

Sherman continues to engage in public service across multiple levels. Within the past three years, he has worked for elected government officials, including a city councilmember and two Members of Congress. He previously interned for a U.S.-China relations think tank and produced written research products for private sector stakeholders and policymakers. Sherman has already taught his own college classes and actively engages with young people about citizenship and civic participation.

In addition to his work at GWI, Sherman studies the American conservative movement and its policy ideology and attitudes on China and Taiwan.

Sherman graduated from King’s College London in 2018 with a BA and a major in Politics. In 2017, he was selected to participate in leadership study seminars and received the Principal’s Global Leadership Award that year. He returned to the U.S. after graduation and received a Master of International Affairs degree in 2020 from the Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A&M University.

A Carson City resident, he is blessed to be a Nevadan and looks forward to meeting voters across Nevada’s 2nd congressional district.
