RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - The Republican race to replace outgoing U.S. Rep. Mark Amodei in Nevada’s 2nd Congressional District is drawing a crowded field and marking the first time in roughly 15 years the congressional seat has been open.

The contest is also shaping up as another test of President Donald Trump’s power in GOP primaries, with some candidates aligning closely with Trump while others draw strong differences. Below are several of the remaining candidates in the race and highlights from their platforms.


SHERMAN TYLAWSKY

  • Background: History podcast host; youngest GOP candidate; has not held office, but interned in the U.S. House.

  • Top issue: Says the national debt and deficit — nearing $39 trillion — must be addressed before other issues.
